The 79th AAABA Tournament official opening night game brought 5,961 fans to Sargent’s Stadium at the Point to carry on a longstanding tradition in the City of Johnstown.
Zanesville’s Junior Pioneers edged the host Johnstown-1 Martella’s Pharmacy team 3-2 in a tight contest.
The event began with the players parade from the train station to the Point, with the Flood City Corvette’s bringing AAABA Ambassadors and AAABA national committee members into the stadium. Once the long procession concluded, the on-field ceremonies welcomed teams and fans to Johnstown while recognizing this baseball tradition.
The Bomb Squad along the hillside above the stadium provided its own brand of “fireworks” in support of the program and the home team.
