Johnstown Mainline Pharmacy pitcher Seth Shuey threw eight scoreless innings as his team shut out Youngstown Creekside Crocodiles 9-0 in the night game at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point to earn a semifinal berth.
Pool D winner Mainline Pharmacy will play Pool D runner-up Columbus TNT Knights at 7 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals, a rematch of a Pool D game won 6-1 by Johnstown on Tuesday.
Three-time defending champion New Orleans Boosters, the Pool B winner, will face Johnstown-2 Martella’s Pharmacy, the Pool B runner-up, at noon at Sargent’s Stadium in the early semifinal. That game is another rematch from pool play won 12-6 by the Boosters on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Mainline Pharmacy’s Erik Rhodes had two hits, including his third triple in the tournament. The Johnstown lead-off hitter also scored once and drove in three runs — two of those on the three-bagger he smacked deep to right field.
Lincoln Pack had two hits and a walk for Johnstown. Alex Glumac had a hit and scored three runs. Ty Galusky drove in two runs at the plate and threw out three runners on the base paths from his catcher position.
Brody Roberts tossed one scoreless inning to finish the contest.
Youngstown had four hits, all singles by Anthony Perry, Chase Franken, Mason Monroe and Steve Rohan.
