AAABA Tournament adjusts schedule after electrical issues at Point Stadium

August 12, 2015

The AAABA Tournament national committee adapted to an unfortunate situation on Wednesday night at Point Stadium as a faulty transformer outside of the facility led to a power outage and a light tower in the stadium that emitted smoke.
As a safety precaution, the game between unbeaten Johnstown Martella’s Pharmacy and undefeated Boston BASE Astros was postponed at 8:13 p.m. after more than an hour delay.
Fans may use tickets from Wednesday’s postponed game to enter the rescheduled game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Point Stadium.
The winner of the Wednesday night 50-50 ticket drawing will be posted at the AAABA office at Point Stadium.
Other games on Thursday will be played at the new Iron Horse Complex near Windber, Somerset County.
A 10 a.m. doubleheader will be played on Iron Horse fields. The first game will feature New Orleans and Columbus, each 1-1. The second game will pair defending tournament champion Chicago Metro and Youngstown, also both 1-1.
The winners of those two games will play at 1 p.m. at Iron Horse.
Undefeated Altoona Wise Trailer Sales and the Philadelphia Bandits each will have a bye on Thursday.
