Afternoon success! Johnstown-2, Maryland State, Brooklyn-2, Youngstown pick up victories on Day 2

Brooklyn-2 Cougars pitcher Cole Peaslee tossed a no-hitter in a 9-1 victory over Altoona-2 Johnston Realty on Tuesday at Lilly Washington War Memorial Field.
Peaslee struck out 14 batters and walked five in the Pool A contest. He threw 146 pitches, 89 for strikes.
Caleb Mulcahy had four hits, including a triple, three RBIs and two runs for the Cougars (1-1).
Bryce Eberhart had two walks and scored Altoona-2 Johnston Realty’s (0-2) lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In other afternoon games, Johnstown-2 Martella’s Pharmacy beat Philadelphia Bandits 9-2 in Pool B at Sargent’s Stadium. Michael Marinchak pitched five scoreless innings with five strikeouts for Martella’s (2-0).
Jared Dowey had two hits, a double and two runs scored. Steven Budash had two hits, and Hunter Smith hit a double for Johnstown-2. Aidan Robbins, Ethan Martini and Austin Stalker each had two hits for the Bandits (0-2).
At Westmont Hilltop High School, Youngstown pulled away from Zanesville 9-5 in Pool C.
Nathan Fleming had two hits, with a double and three runs for the Creekside Crocodiles (2-0). Colten Shaffer had two hits, including a double and two RBIs.
In Pool D, Maryland State beat Buffalo LDC Edge 9-4 at Mount Aloysius College.
James Holloday had three hits. Kai Higginson doubled and Logan Burroughs tripled for the Crabfest (1-1). Higginson had three hits and three runs scored.
