Buffalo and Boston to play for Altoona Regional crown

July 29, 2016

Boston BASE Astros and Buffalo Leib’s will meet for the Altoona Regional title and a berth in the AAABA Tournament at stake on Saturday.

Boston defeated Altoona Johnston Realty 7-2 Thursday morning in the completion of a game suspended by rain on Wednesday. Buffalo beat Maryland State 8-4 in another completion of a suspended game.

The loss eliminated Maryland State Crab University.

Buffalo defeated Altoona 8-0 in a Friday afternoon game. Johnston Realty was eliminated but still has an automatic berth in the 72nd annual AAABA Tournament because of its role as a regional host team.

The championship round will begin at 10 a.m. as Boston and Buffalo meet at Juniata Field.

Should Buffalo win that game, a second meeting between the teams would determine the regional championship. That game would begin approximately 30 minutes after the first contest.
