Buffalo, New Orleans and Philadelphia advance to semifinal round in Thursday early games

Buffalo Royal Printing, New Orleans Boosters and the Philadelphia Bandits each advanced to the AAABA Tournament semifinal round via victories in the morning and afternoon games of elimination play.

  • Buffalo defeated New York Long Island Astros 12-2 in seven innings at Mount Aloysius College. Russell Mistretta went 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs, and Erik Johnson pitched seven innings, allowing five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. New York’s John Castiglione hit a two-run homer.
  • New Orleans Boosters beat New Brunswick Matrix 8-4 at Sargent’s Stadium to remain undefeated. Michael Stutes had two hits, with a double, and Grant Schulz had two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Ross Scelfo had two hits. Michael Romano pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out four. New Brunswick’s Kyle Richards had two hits and Kyle Forcini tripled.
  • Philadelphia Bandits’ Greg Delgado went 4-for-4 with four runs as the Bandits remained unbeaten with a 13-3 victory over Maryland State Crabfest in seven innings at Mount Aloysius. Dutch Reardon went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Matt Smith went 3-for-3 with two runs. William Bethel pitched a four-hitter with no earned runs and five strikeouts.

Friday’s schedule will depend on the result of Thursday night’s game between Johnstown Martella’s Pharmacy (3-0) and Zanesville Junior Pioneers (2-1).

New Orleans will play Buffalo at the Point at a time to be determined. Philadelphia will play the winner of the Johnstown-Zanesville game at the Point at a time to be determined.
