City of Johnstown to hold parade to honor AAABA Tournament champs

August 15, 2018

The City of Johnstown will hold a parade and Central Park ceremony to honor Martella’s Pharmacy on Saturday, August 18.

Martella’s won the AAABA Tournament championship with a 3-2 victory over the New Orleans Boosters in the title game of the 74th annual event.

It marked the first championship by the host city, which has been home of the AAABA Tournament for all but two of the 74 events.

Martella’s Pharmacy went 6-0 during the tournament.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point and proceed along Main Street to Central Park.

Following the parade, community, regional and team officials and supporters will speak. The Martella’s Pharmacy players will be available to sign autographs.

The team and AAABA Ambassadors are to be part of the event. Organizers encouraged area high school bands and youth players to be in the parade.

The Cambria Regional Chamber, Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Discover Downtown Partnership all helped organize the parade.
