Defending champ Zanesville, New Orleans advance to AAABA Tournament semifinal round with Thursday morning wins

August 10, 2017

Defending AAABA Tournament champion Zanesville Junior Pioneers defeated Buffalo Royal Printing 10-4 at Roxbury Park on Thursday morning to earn a spot in the semifinal round of the 73rd annual event.

The New Orleans Boosters beat Baltimore Maryland Monsters 8-2 at Point Stadium on Thursday morning to advance to the semifinals.

The two teams’ respective opponents will be determined after Thursday afternoon’s game between returning national runner-up Johnstown-2 Paul Carpenter Capital Advisors and the New Brunswick Matrix; and the night game between Johnstown Martella’s Pharmacy and Maryland State Crabfest. Both games are at the Point.

Zanesville’s Caden Mumaw went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, and Riley Lake had two hits, including a double, three RBIs and one run in the win over Buffalo.

Collin Conrad drove in three runs.

New Orleans’ Blake Way hit a three-run home run and tripled and scored two runs in the win over Baltimore. Grant Matthews went 3-for-4 for the Boosters.
