Eight teams advanced out of pool play in AAABA Tournament

Eight teams moved out of pool play in the 75th annual AAABA Tournament after Wednesday’s seven morning and afternoon games.

The field for elimination play was set regardless of the outcome of Wednesday night’s contest between Johnstown-1 Martella’s Pharmacy and Brooklyn-1 SAYO Grays.

Out of Pool A:

New Orleans Boosters (3-0), top seed.

Buffalo-1 Royal Printing (2-1), second seed.

Out of Pool B:

New York Long Astros (2-1), top seed based on three-team tiebreaker for fewest runs allowed (14).

New Brunswick Matrix (2-1), second seed based on head-to-head tiebreaker with a win over Cleveland.

New York, New Brunswick and Cleveland each finished Pool B play at 2-1.

Out of Pool C:

Philadelphia Bandits (3-0), top seed.

Zanesville Junior Pioneers (2-1), second seed.

Out of Pool D:

Johnstown-1 Martella’s Pharmacy (2-0 entering Wednesday night), top seed.

Maryland State (2-1), second seed.

Thursday’s schedule will match:

  • Pool A-2 Buffalo Royal Printing vs. Pool B-1 New York Long Island Astros, Mount Aloysius College, 11 a.m.
  • Pool A-1 New Orleans Boosters vs. Pool B-2 New Brunswick Matrix, Sargent’s Stadium, noon.
  • Pool C-1 Philadelphia Bandits vs. Pool D-2 Maryland State Crabfest, Mount Aloysius College, 2 p.m.
  • Pool D-1 Johnstown Martella’s Pharmacy vs. Pool C-2 Zanesville Junior Pioneers, Sargent’s Stadium, 7 p.m.
