Johnstown-2 Paul Carpenter Capital Advisors holds off Zanesville charge to earn second straight trip to AAABA Tournament title game

August 11, 2017

Johnstown-2 Paul Carpenter Capital Advisors built a six-run lead and needed every one of those tallies to hold off Zanesville Junior Pioneers in a five-run bottom of the ninth.

Paul Carpenter held off Zanesville 8-7 in a AAABA Tournament semifinal game on Friday afternoon at Point Stadium.

The victory puts the Johnstown-2 team into the national championship game for a second straight season.

The setback ended Zanesville’s hopes of successfully defending the AAABA Tournament crown it won in 2016.

Paul Carpenter will play the winner of Friday night’s semifinal game between Johnstown Martella’s Pharmacy and the New Orleans Boosters. The game was set to begin at 7 p.m. on Friday.
