Josh Gallagher, a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, with AAABA Tournament ties and a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice,” will sing the “Star Spangled Banner” before the second night game of the 73rd annual tournament on August 8.
Gallagher is a native of Cresson, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Penn Cambria High School, which is not far from Lilly-Washington War Memorial Field used during AAABA Tournament week.
Gallagher played in the Johnstown AAABA League with the former Principle Development franchise in 2009.
In 2010, Gallagher joined Johnston Realty in Altoona, a team managed by Mel Curtis. Johnston Realty played in the 2010 AAABA Tournament. Gallagher had a hit and a .333 batting average in the 2010 event, including a crucial run scored in the top of the 13th inning in Altoona’s lone win of the tournament against New Brunswick at Fichtner Field.
He said he has vivid memories of participating in the opening night parade and joining his teammates on the field at Point Stadium as part of the procession of Corvettes and AAABA Ambassadors.
Gallagher advanced to the final four of the 2016 season of “The Voice.”
