Johnstown’s Martella’s Pharmacy earned a berth in the 73rd annual AAABA Tournament semifinal round with a 7-0 victory over Maryland State on Thursday night at Point Stadium.
Martella’s Pharmacy (4-0) relied on 7 2/3 innings on the mound by right-hander Omar Ward, who allowed two hits, one walk and struck out four.
Tanner Polinski had two doubles among Martella’s nine hits. Nemo Trexler and Danny Wukich each had two hits. Wukich drove in a pair, and Trexler and Nico Pecora each scored two runs.
Maryland State (2-2) was led by Jake Wyandt’s two hits.
The semifinal round will include a game between Johnstown-2 Paul Carpenter Capital Advisors (3-1) and defending champion Zanesville Junior Pioneers (3-1) at 2 p.m. at the Point on Friday.
Martella’s Pharmacy will play 14-time champion New Orleans Boosters (4-0) at 7 p.m.
