AAABA President John Austin recently announced that a new franchise will join the AAABA in 2017.
Austin said the AAABA has added a Michigan franchise from the Great Lakes United Baseball League.
“They have a good league with six teams, and they met all the criteria in the membership application, which looked very good,” Austin told The Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown. “They were willing to do whatever needed to be done to get into the AAABA.”
The Great Lakes United Baseball League website lists its teams as the Manistee Saints, Michigan Area Braves Collegiate, Michigan Area Braves Senior, Oil City Stags, Michigan Sports Academy Livingston and South Central 517.
Austin said the Chicago Metro franchise, which was the national champion in 2014, will not be part of the 2017 event.
