New Orleans franchise to celebrate 75 years of AAABA history

June 22, 2021

In 1946, the New Orleans franchise made its first appearance in the All-American Amateur Baseball Association’s National Tournament.

This summer, the Louisiana team will be celebrating the 75 summers of the New Orleans Baseball tradition.

New Orleans has been among the most successful franchises in the AAABA Tournament with 16 championships and 12 runner-up finishes in 69 national tournaments (New Orleans also participated in regional competition during the 74 previous years).

The Boosters have produced nine AAABA Hall of Famers and 24 players who eventually advanced to the major leagues.

Dr. Henry LaRocca, Louis “Rags” Scheuermann, Joe Scheuermann, Steve Mura, Wally Whitehurst, Kurt Ainsworth, Ronald McDonald, Raymond Pelleteri and Wayne Pietri are tournament legends who are part of the Hall.
