Two Martella’s Pharmacy pitchers who got the win and save during the AAABA Tournament championship game each were honored during the 81st Point Stadium Award banquet at the Pasquerilla Conference Center in downtown Johnstown.
Left-handed starter Brady Walker earned the annual Point Stadium Award after pitching 8 2/3 innings in a 3-2 victory over the New Orleans Boosters in the 74th annual AAABA Tournament at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point. Lefty reliever T.J. Adams recorded the final out via strikeout as host Johnstown won the tournament for the first time in an event dating to 1945.
Walker earned the 2018 Point Stadium Award and scholarship while Adams received the Point Stadium Play of the Year honor during a banquet in front of 200 fans.
Former AAABA League standout Michael Ryan was the featured speaker. Ryan is the Altoona Curve manager in the Class AA Eastern League. He played 15 professional seasons, including parts of five seasons in the major leagues with the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels.
