Reds promote former AAABA Tournament champion pitcher to Class Double-A

July 24, 2021

Right-handed pitcher Braxton Roxby, a former member of the Martella’s Pharmacy team that won Johnstown’s first AAABA Tournament crown in 2018, earned a promotion to the Class Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts on July 23, 2021.

A free agent signee of the Cincinnati Reds in June 2020, Roxby began his first professional season with the High-A Dayton Dragons, going 2-2 with a 1.30 ERA and five saves in seven opportunities this summer. He had three holds, 46 strikeouts and 16 walks in 27 2/3 innings before his call up.

In the AAABA Tournament, Roxby won Johnstown’s semifinal round game against Altoona, helping Martella’s advance to the 2018 title game against New Orleans. Johnstown won its first AAABA Tournament championship the next night.
