Former Major League Baseball standout Sid Bream, who was involved in what has been labeled the fourth-most exciting play in league history, was the featured speaker as a crowd of 550 welcomed the AAABA Hall of Fame Class of 2015 on Saturday, August 8 at the Pasquerilla Conference Center in Johnstown.
Bream, who played for the Dodgers, Pirates and Braves, talked about his role in Atlanta’s dramatic ninth-inning, comeback win over Pittsburgh in Game 7 of the 1992 NLCS championship game. He told other stories about how Pirates fans welcomed him back with a standing ovation and then he hit a home run over the center field wall during his first trip back to Three Rivers Stadium in 1991.
The Hall of Fame inducted the Class of 2015 which included Joe Carbone (Elmira player/Columbus manager); Chris DelSignore (Johnstown Delweld manager); Mike Moore (Johnstown Pepsi-Cola catcher); and Sam Ross Jr. (Johnstown Tribune-Democrat sports writer).
