The Zanesville Junior Pioneers hosted and won their own AAABA Regional with three victories on Friday and Saturday.
The defending AAABA Tournament champion Junior Pioneers won the crown with a 9-3 victory over Maryland State on Saturday.
Zanesville defeated Maryland State Crabfest 5-4 in nine innings on Friday and blanked Chicago South Shore 10-0 in six innings on Saturday.
As regional runner-up, Maryland State also advanced to Johnstown based on Friday’s 2-1 win over Chicago South Shore.
The 73rd annual AAABA Tournament will begin on August 7 at Johnstown’s Point Stadium and surrounding fields.
Editors Note: Chicago South Shore later was added to the 16-team bracket when the franchise from Livonia, Michigan was unable to participate in the 2017 tournament.
