AAABA Hall of Famer Bob Wolfe passes away at age 89

July 24, 2021

The AAABA Tournament mourns the loss of AAABA Hall of Famer Bob Wolfe, who died at age 89 on July 22, 2021.

Wolfe had been involved in the AAABA Tournament for 61 years from his first visit to Johnstown in 1955 through the 2016 event.

He served as national AAABA president in 1973 and 1974. Wolfe also held roles as tournament chairman and executive director. He was a huge part of the Zanesville Junior Pioneers franchise and the Muskingum Valley Oldtimers Baseball Association.

Wolfe also was a respected umpire and he helped manage the Gant Municipal Stadium in Zanesville, Ohio. He was instrumental in a “Save Our Stadium” campaign that raised $300,000 in the early 1990s.

The AAABA Hall of Fame inducted Wolfe in its Class of 1996.
